As a follow-up to the
meeting of the President of the Republic of Indonesia and the President of
Uzbekistan on the sidelines of the Belt and Road Initiative Forum in May 2017,
Uzbekistan Deputy Prime Minister Zoyir Toirovich Mirzaev in his capacity as a
Minister of Agriculture carried out a working visit to Indonesia on 21-25
August 2017. The Uzbekistan Delegations were more than 50 people and consist of
ministers, governors, officials and practitioners from agriculture and
fisheries sector.
On the first day of his
visit (21/8), Deputy Prime Minister Mirzaev conducted a courtesy visit to the
President of Indonesia, and a meeting with the Minister of Agriculture, the
Minister of Marine and Fisheries and the Minister of Environment and Forestry.
In the meeting with
President Joko Widodo which was also attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs
and Minister of State Secretary of Indonesia, Uzbekistan praised Indonesia's
success in developing agriculture sector, such as rice and pepper. In the
fisheries sector, Uzbekistan wants to study the development of the fisheries
sector especially freshwater aquaculture and expect a concrete cooperation
between the two countries. Uzbekistan also invited Indonesian investors to
invest in these two sectors in Uzbekistan.
President Joko Widodo
welcomed Uzbekistan's wishes and promised to send Indonesian delegation to
Uzbekistan to explore the concrete cooperation.
During this visit, Deputy
Prime Minister Mirzaev also expressed Uzbekistan's support for Indonesia's
nomination as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council which the
election will be held in New York in 2018.
In addition to make a
meeting with the high Indonesian officials, Deputy Prime Minister Mirzaev was
planned to field visit to Cianjur, Pangkal Pinang and Bogor on 22-24 August
